The Future is now. With a name so poignant, the Atlanta linguist is letting it be known that he is the future of hip-hop. Since his breakout performance at Budweiser Made In America last summer, Future has been bursting eardrums with his beats and thrilling audiences with his electrifying performances. His latest run of shows – The Purple Reign Tour – is certainly taking things to a whole new level of madness.

Last night, Future and very special guest Ty Dolla $ign stepped their game up. They took their current intimate club tour to a big room setting in Reading’s Santander Arena. They stood and delivered, nearly selling out the venue with over 5,000 fans in attendance. Ty Dolla $Sign got things off to a running start. After dropping a few tracks, he boldly stated, “Which one of ya’ll wanna smoke with me?” The crowd erupted, as he lit up a joint. He took a hit and gazed out into the crowd. It was fully on.

After a great opening set by TD$, Future hit the stage amidst a purple haze. The beat dropped, literally shaking fans to their core. I felt the vibrations ripple through my chest like a seismic shock wave, as the foundations of the arena began to rumble.

Future set the tone for the rest of the night by opening with his anthem “Thought It Was a Drought.” From there, he proceeded to grind out a massive 31-song set that included hits like “Where Ya At,” “Move That Dope,” Blow a Bag,” “Jumpman,” “The Percocet & Stripper Joint,” “Real Sisters,” “Trap N*ggas,” and more. While it wasn’t his final track of the evening, “F*ck Up Some Commas” may have been the highlight of the show, although picking a favorite proved to be difficult. Future is proving that he is a force to be reckoned with, and that the days of hip-hop to come are bright.

Last year, Future released his latest studio LP, DS2. The disc debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200. The album was quickly certified Gold and produced four hit singles including the mega-hit “F*ck Up Some Commas.” Just two weeks ago, the multiple BET Award nominee dropped his new album Evol – the much anticipated follow-up to his wildly successful DS2. The album once again came in at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 and features a special guest appearance by Grammy Award-winner The Weeknd.
